Six falcons of the species Falco eleonorae were released on Wednesday, 25th August 2004, at the foot of Agios Ilias mountain on the island of Naxos.
This unique event was organised by the Hellenic Ornithological Society (HOS) and the Hellenic Wildlife Hospital in Aegina (EKPAZ) with the participation of volunteers from the Falco eleonorae census team in eastern Cyclades (LIFE program) and lots of children with their parents who wished the birds the best of luck.
During this event HOS members and EKPAZ representative Jakob Fric informed all those who attended about the Falco eleonorae, its habits and its role in the ecosystem, as well as the threats for its existence.
