The Hellenic Rarities Committee in its February 24th, 2009 session, decided to establish the Lesvos Bird Records Committee (LBRC).

This committee’s basic goals are:

  • Processing, monitoring and updating of the bird checklist of Lesvos, according to international processes in bird identification and systematic, following the HRC standards (our agreed starting checklist is as per Dudley 2009, A Birdwatching Guide to Lesvos).
  • Encouragement of foreign birdwatchers visiting Lesvos to submit record forms for rare species records, unusual records and cases of rarer and new breeding species for the island.

The members of the Committee, for the next five years, are:
